What Does It Take For a Cruise To Be Luxury?

The variety of cruise options available to people these days is staggering. Some are only a few days long whilst others can last months. Some take you to beach resorts, whilst others to Antarctic conditions. The greatest variety however is provided by the cost of certain cruises. You can now book cruises that cost very little indeed, and still find many that are more luxurious than any other form of travel. Lets examine exactly what makes a luxury cruise.

Service. Above all else, it is the service that makes a cruise luxury. If a cruise ship gets nothing else right, as long as the service is exemplary, it can still be salvaged for the customers. From the welcome introduction to the farewell send off, you should expect the conduct and attentiveness of all the staff to be of the highest quality. On certain 5 star cruises, you may even get your own butler.

Food. One thing that has always been of a good base standard on most cruise ships is the food, but on the cheaper modern cruises standards sometimes slip. On the upper end of the cruise ship scale, your food and drink is often made up by world class chefs and award winning barmen and women. Further more, if you pay for luxury you often pay for the flexibility to order what you want and when you want it.

Facilities & Entertainment
. The step up in standard of provisions between the lesser and luxury ships is often marked. Luxury cruises can afford to provide the best quality facilities such as gyms and pools, and also put on the most amazing shows. The top performers often strive to work on the best ships such as Oceania Cruises, so it most often the case that the best professional performers and directors are snapped up by luxury cruise lines and provide real quality entertainment.

Scottish Island Cruises by Royal Appointment

You don’t have to cruise abroad for stunning scenery and fantastic service. The highlands and islands of Scotland with their lochs and remote beauty are all accessible from the quaint comfort of the Hebridean Princess, the cruise ship operated by Hebridean Cruises.Carrying just 49 guests, this vessel has an enviable reputation for exceptional service, fine food and wine and the attention of the dedicated crew of just 38. This charming and intimate cruise ship is ideal for intellectual, well-travelled couples and singles who like to be with like-minded people in a sophisticated atmosphere, without any razzamatazz.

Five star cruises don’t come any more exclusive than this as the Hebridean Princess is the only vessel in the fleet.  With just 30 spacious, elegant and well-appointed cabins, it may also be the smallest cruise ship afloat.  However, she surely must be the only one that can claim “by royal appointment” as Queen Elizabeth II chartered her in 2006 for a family celebration.Like her majesty, guests can expect the highest standards of luxury five star accommodations together with an outstanding level of service from a bygone era. The cabins on this small ship are also very special and with tasteful fabrics, curtains and panelled walls they are much more akin to a room in a country house hotel.

The crew take pleasure in sharing their local knowledge with passengers, introducing them to some of the most striking and awe inspiring landscapes in Europe with romantic castles, spectacular lochs and seldom-visited anchorages. You don’t often find escorted walking tours as part of a luxury cruises but excursions from the Hebridean Princess cater for most walking abilities with a range of guided walks in the hills, mountains and lochs. If the scenery isn’t enough to inspire, the promise of a nip of whisky back on board should do the trick!Cruises are typically between four and eight nights, sailing mainly from Oban.  Sailing the waters of the Western Isles and beyond to far-flung St Kilda, the Orkney and Shetland Isles, the Hebridean Princess also visits Norway during the summer months before returning via the Northern Isles in August.

Do You Actually Need The Internet On A Ship?

There are so many complaints almost daily from people who are on five star cruises because of the fact they cannot access the internet very well at all. Getting near the internet itself is something you should already be greatful for, let alone moaning. You are at sea for crying out loud, do you really expect the net connection to be totally awesome all of the time?

Many people out there hate the costs. This is because cruise companies will charge a bit extra for you to go onto the internet to check mail, send pictures or do a bit of work. Of course another idea is staying at home for your next vacation, then you can have the internet whenever you want? Cruises are meant to be fun and relaxing so why do many people spend them cooped up in a room reading e-mails and chatting to people over Facebook.

If you were away anywhere else you wouldn’t expect to use the internet but because it is there then people must simply use it time and time again. Why people just cannot wait to get home and use the internet is beyond me which is why I do not see how people have the right to complain.

Why bother spending loads of extra money on internet charges when you could be relaxed by the pool with a nice drink in your hands? Many people love sending pictures over the internet. Is there any real reason for this? It is almost certain that all of the people you know can wait until you physically get home before you show them your photos.

So whether it is one of those nice Rhine river cruises or perhaps one of those Silversea cruises just enjoy it.

The best piece of advice to take from all of this, just relax and enjoy your cruise!!

Is the olympic ship being built or not?

This is something that has been put forward many times and then dropped again but after reassessing the situation they are actually considering doing this for real.

Why on earth does this happen? It is not known why the country is spending so much money on this when we are currently suffering so badly from the depression? The 2012 games will hopefully bring a bit of a boost to this country as it certainly does need it so why on earth does it even matter where all the competitiors go to sleep, the real answer is that it doesnt in any way at all?

They are no different to anyone else and I do not see why they are treated in a different way as they are just trying to do thier job. It is also unknown why the government are building giant training facilities as surely these countries have their own. The plan for the ship afterwards is most likely to turn it into a museum which of course will be great fun. I do not know a person on earth who would enjoy visiting a place where tired and smelly athletes had slept in? It is truly madness that the government seem to be more interested in pleasing a few visitors for two weeks than the country itself!

There is an idea to build a big hotel for all of the athletes but I really do not understand why they do not just sick them into normal hotels, they are not exactly famous/. What a waste of money is building the hotel, there is certainly a hotel with enough space for these people, why waste tax payers money.

Of course going on a real luxury cruises is a lot nicer than watching the Olympic one being built so why not think about taking one of those river cruises and just going away for a bit.

Five star cruises can be a really nice way to get away from it all, so why not try it.

5 Items To Take With You On a Cruise

The popularity of cruises is at an all time high and more people are trying them than every before. They used to be the reserve of the really rich or the very old, but now there are cruises to accommodate every appreciation and every budget. Here are some ideas for important things to take on your cruise.

Travel Sickness Tablets. The majority of the larger ships such as Silversea Cruises have motion stabilisers these days to help combat sea sickness. Even so, lots of people still feel the effects of the sea in rough weather when the boat is moving about the most. If you dont want to spend your trip studying the bottom of the toilet, take some good sickness tablets.

Take Money. Regardless of the fact many luxury cruises say they are all inclusive, this does not mean they cover all costs and you’ll often find there are small things you will need some cash for. Maybe you’ll forget to take socks with you on your cruise, or you’ll lose your hair brush, which will mean you’ll need money to buy a new one.

Take a Book. You’ll probably not have much spare time on your cruise as you’ll be kept busy by all the attractions and destinations. However, youll be amazed just how much youll appreciate taking a good book that you can read in your downtime. When youre active all day you need to rest at some point.

Smart Clothes. Even cheaper cruises expect you to look semi-smart on certain occasions. Most often this is at the evening meal or when you go to see one of the shows. Some five star cruises even ask for smart clothes to worn at all times

Good Shoes. Given the size of modern cruise ships, you could find that you’ll cover a great deal of distance over a day of wondering. However, youll mostly need some good walking shoes more when you get off the boat at your stops as when you are sightseeing youre on your feet a lot of the time. It’s something that people often forget to bring and regret it almost straight away.
