Silversea Cruises Epitomise Italian Passion and European Style

Originally founded by the Lefebvre family of Rome, Silversea cruises use specially designed ships as elegant as some of the finest European hotels. Intended to be a luxury home from home on the oceans of the world, Silversea’s ships are spacious in feel and appearance, but are small in comparison with mass-market vessels, making them agile and easily docked in less-visited, more exotic destinations.

Silversea Cruises are definitely the benchmark in the ultra-luxury cruise market. You don’t just go cruising with Silversea! You experience a very special lifestyle that encompasses art and culture, exploring great wines and culinary styles and romantic destinations. With Silversea, cruising is genuinely an art form!

The fleet of Silversea Cruises five-star luxury vessels consist of the Silver Wind which can accommodate 296 guests, Silver Shadow and Silver Whisper that will house 382 in opulent comfort, and the Prince Albert II which can take 132 guests on authentic expedition experiences with an ice-strengthened hull while still offering unmatched levels of luxury.  Largest vessel in the fleet, the Silver Spirit, can entertain and pamper 540 guests.  This ship extends the meaning of luxury cruises with a choice of six dining venues, a resort-style pool, four whirlpools, and the largest private suites with private verandas in the Silversea fleet.

The elegant Silver Spirit also offers an on-board spa experience with the latest cutting-edge anti-ageing beauty therapies and personalised wellness treatments. At 8,300 square feet, it’s the largest in the Silversea fleet and is operated by Steiner Leisure Limited, a leading international provider of spa services. It features a beauty salon, fitness centre, spa treatment rooms, sauna rooms and two steam rooms.A Thermal Suite with heated lounge chairs connects to a private Hammam (Turkish bath) Chamber while an outdoor relaxation area (open to all guests) provides complimentary fruit smoothies, champagne or cocktails.

Ultra Luxury with Silversea Cruises

Cruises come is all sorts of packages for all pocketbooks.  From the mass market  floating cities that pack them in and cruise the Med  to the intimate, sail-powered Dahabiya cruise vessels that ply the Nile, there’s a cruise package and a range of destinations to suit almost anyone.  Despite the prevailing economic environment, the ultra luxury cruise market continues to prosper, catering to modern, more affluent travellers often in partnership with the world’s most respected luxury brands.

Success in the very high end luxury cruise sector requires a fleet of ships purpose-built for the ultra-luxury market. They tend to be compact, more intimate vessels that can slip into more exotic ports off the beaten path. Small is of course a relative term as these ships can accommodate up to 300 – 400 guests in exquisite luxury. These elite vessels are designed for fewer guests, afford more cabin and suite space and deliver high levels of personal service with a typical crew to passenger ratio of 1:3.  Despite their  smaller overall size  combined with larger and more luxurious dining space and accommodation, these vessels still incorporate the favourite amenities found on larger ships, such as a show lounge for nightly entertainment,  casino, spa and state-of-the-art fitness facilities. Entertainment is not glitzy and Vegas-style – more low-key but very high-class, in keeping with the sort of clientele these ships attract.

Silversea Cruises is one company specialising in the ultra luxury cruise market born out of generations of maritime and travel experience. Established by the Italian Lefebvre family in the early 1990s, it operates some the highest quality ships in the ultra-luxury segment. The modern fleet of small, intimate ships have a very friendly onboard atmosphere and are ideal for the discerning client who wants all-inclusive 5-star quality in an intimate and friendly environment. One word of warning though – the atmosphere and ambience onboard these vessels can be addictive.  After a day or two you get so seduced by the pampering, the first-class service and the warm hospitality that when you reach a port of call it may be hard to actually leave the ship!

Do Cheaper Prices Mean More Fighting?

Of course Cruising has always been a luxury holiday, that only the people that afford it can really go on, what has hapoened to all of this recently? Well the economic downturn seems to have made many luxury cruises accessible to more and more people.

Recently in the news it would seem that disaster has hit and many people are complaining that there are more arguments, more fighting and just more people who seem to enjoy causing problems for others. The word Chav seems to crop up many times when I was researching all of this. Although it seems a bit harsh to call lower classes CHAVS it would seem that like most of the time it is a very small minority causing the problems. It is very hard for me to understand why people would save up all of their money just so they can go onboard to cause many problems.

There is no need to go and get drunk at every available opportunity at all and it is very strange to see why people do this when they are on a cruise ship. The thing is it needs to be realised that with cheaper prices it means you are going to get some nasty people on ships who just want to cause a bit of hassle. They do this simply for fun but there is no way that this should discourage you from taking one of those oceania cruises. it very rarely occurs and if something does happen then it will be taken care of almost straight away.

How are the decent people going to be able to afford to go on a cruise if these prices go back up, they are not and to take them up for a few incidents would be very uncalled for.

So don’t take any notice of what you hear in the news, go out and enjoy your Silversea cruises!

Do You Actually Need The Internet On A Ship?

There are so many complaints almost daily from people who are on five star cruises because of the fact they cannot access the internet very well at all. Getting near the internet itself is something you should already be greatful for, let alone moaning. You are at sea for crying out loud, do you really expect the net connection to be totally awesome all of the time?

Many people out there hate the costs. This is because cruise companies will charge a bit extra for you to go onto the internet to check mail, send pictures or do a bit of work. Of course another idea is staying at home for your next vacation, then you can have the internet whenever you want? Cruises are meant to be fun and relaxing so why do many people spend them cooped up in a room reading e-mails and chatting to people over Facebook.

If you were away anywhere else you wouldn’t expect to use the internet but because it is there then people must simply use it time and time again. Why people just cannot wait to get home and use the internet is beyond me which is why I do not see how people have the right to complain.

Why bother spending loads of extra money on internet charges when you could be relaxed by the pool with a nice drink in your hands? Many people love sending pictures over the internet. Is there any real reason for this? It is almost certain that all of the people you know can wait until you physically get home before you show them your photos.

So whether it is one of those nice Rhine river cruises or perhaps one of those Silversea cruises just enjoy it.

The best piece of advice to take from all of this, just relax and enjoy your cruise!!

Just a couple of movies made on ships

Although many films based on cruise ships were filmed on sets some were filmed on the ships themselves. These are just a few that are recommended to you before you go on a luxury cruise

Titanic

This has to be the biggest film that is based on a ship. It is also one of the biggest money earners of all time bringing in a massive .8 Billion. 0 million is how much the film cost to make, which in turn made it the highest costing film for that time. Two fictional people are at the centre of this movie. There are a few characters in the film that did actually exist so it is part historic part fiction.

Speed 2

This was actually a box office disaster as many of the films original actors did not return to make the sequel. Keanu Reeves really felt that the script was awful so did not actually return. The villan of the previous one did also not want to return. It really shows as the majority of the film is very poor indeed. You have to watch this film because it has such a good ending.

One of Comedy’s Best- Carry On Crusing

The Carry On series is huge and this is just one of those films. This was the first in the franchise to be fimed in colour. It is on the list simply because it is my favourite film in the entire series and needed to be here because the whole of the film is set on a cruise ship.

So whether you are on your way to one of those cunard cruises or even a Silversea cruises make sure you check out these films first. Thinking about it, these films all spell diaster for cruise ships but do not worry as they are just movies right?

Titanic sails again!

2012 is of course going to be the 100th Anniversary of the Titanic sinking. A company is setting up a trans-Atlantic cruise to do the exact same route.

8th April 2012 is the date that the ship is departing as it is exaclty 100 years since the Titanic set sail. It is also leaving from the exact same port as the original which of course is Southampton. Once it has left the port it will then stop at Cobh in Ireland in the same way that the real thing did to make the experience even more life like.

The ship is going to arrive on the spot where the Titanic sunk at 11.40 which is when it hit the iceburg. 2am is around the time the ship will carry on with its journey to New York.2am was the time in which the ship sunk.

This is certainly not going to be a disrespectful trip as the vessal is set to have a short memorial service during these hours. There will also be lectures on board as well as food and music from the era.

The ship will contain 710 cabins and will hold 1,350 passengers and a crew of around 150. The prices are of course not going to be cheap so watch out for that. This is truly going to be the luxury cruises of a life time.

Of course most of the cheaper cabins for the price above have already sold out so perhaps if you are interested in taking a cruise you should think about taking another cruise like one of those Rhine River Cruises or perhaps Silversea cruises would be a better move to make.

5 Items To Take With You On a Cruise

The popularity of cruises is at an all time high and more people are trying them than every before. They used to be the reserve of the really rich or the very old, but now there are cruises to accommodate every appreciation and every budget. Here are some ideas for important things to take on your cruise.

Travel Sickness Tablets. The majority of the larger ships such as Silversea Cruises have motion stabilisers these days to help combat sea sickness. Even so, lots of people still feel the effects of the sea in rough weather when the boat is moving about the most. If you dont want to spend your trip studying the bottom of the toilet, take some good sickness tablets.

Take Money. Regardless of the fact many luxury cruises say they are all inclusive, this does not mean they cover all costs and you’ll often find there are small things you will need some cash for. Maybe you’ll forget to take socks with you on your cruise, or you’ll lose your hair brush, which will mean you’ll need money to buy a new one.

Take a Book. You’ll probably not have much spare time on your cruise as you’ll be kept busy by all the attractions and destinations. However, youll be amazed just how much youll appreciate taking a good book that you can read in your downtime. When youre active all day you need to rest at some point.

Smart Clothes. Even cheaper cruises expect you to look semi-smart on certain occasions. Most often this is at the evening meal or when you go to see one of the shows. Some five star cruises even ask for smart clothes to worn at all times

Good Shoes. Given the size of modern cruise ships, you could find that you’ll cover a great deal of distance over a day of wondering. However, youll mostly need some good walking shoes more when you get off the boat at your stops as when you are sightseeing youre on your feet a lot of the time. It’s something that people often forget to bring and regret it almost straight away.
