And to save some cash along the way consider a last minute cruise as the perfect solution to your holiday budgeting needs.

Cruising down the river

Cruising isn’t just about sailing across vast oceans – river cruises are a popular option for those who prefer to stay closer to land. River cruises are a more intimate version than the ocean cruises and with fewer people on board, you’re going to make friends very quickly. These cruises offer the option to see some of the world’s most famous cities in a relaxing, luxurious way. Enjoy the fact that the waiting staff are probably going to have your favourite drink memorised, with there being less people to serve.

Long haul cruises

Do you want to go globe trotting without all the hassle? Then a long haul cruise might just be the answer. Much more luxurious than travelling long haul on a plane, these cruises are ideal for those who are seeking to enjoy the journey as much as they enjoy the destination when they arrive.

Short haul cruises

If you want to take the family on a cruise, then have a look at the many short haul options available. There are plenty of beautiful destinations within your reach in just 10 days, from a cruise around the Med to island hopping in the Caribbean.

Whichever type of cruise you choose, there numerous advantages to this method of travel, from incredible destinations, to luxury facilities; you’ve got nothing to lose, except your track of the time as you enjoy yourself on deck. Take advantage of cruise holidays available for every need, from adult-only, to family-friendly. All you need to do is select your destination. And with 70 percent of the earth’s surface covered in water, the world is your oyster. You’re bound to be curious after reading about all your options, so start planning today.

Cruises offer the chance to visit top destinations

Cruise holidays offer incredible choice when it comes to the destinations available. This is hardly a surprise when you consider that around 70% of the earth’s surface is covered by water. The versatility and variety offered by cruises means that travellers of all persuasions will be able to find something that appeals.

Mediterranean – West
Cruises around the Western Mediterranean are highly popular chocies, particularly for those seeking a short break. These cruises typically visit ports of call throughout Spain, France and Italy. There are plenty of other options, of course, depending on the itinerary you choose, whether you fancy a visit to Portugal, Malta or perhaps Croatia. Cruises around the Western Med can be booked at any time of year, but during the winter months you may find that the cruise ships will substitute the cooler locations, such as France and Italy, with warmer choices, such as the Canaries or perhaps Morocco.

Mediterranean – East
Eastern Mediterranean cruises often include visits to the Greek Isles, Turkey’s Istanbul and Kusadas, eastern Italy, Croatia and ports along the Black Sea, such as the Ukraine and Russia. They offer plentiful sun and beach fun, but also immerse cruisers in history and culture. Most Eastern Mediterranean cruises sail from spring to fall – with the summer high season serving as the busiest time of the year.

Baltic Region and Northern Europe
While often over-shadowed by the sunny Mediterranean, cruises to the less tourist heavy Northern Europe and Baltic provide access to a wide range of cultures and unique scenery. Baltic cruises typically visit Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm, St. Petersburg and Tallinn. Cruises that focus on the Norwegian fjords often stop at Bergen, Stavanger, Alesund, Flam and Tromso. You can also find cruises that visit the far north — including the arctic, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Iceland.

Transatlantic
Popular routes across the ocean include cruises from the Mediterranean or the UK to Florida or New York. This will often involve a one or two week journey at sea with just a few ports of call along the way. With more time spent on the ship itself, the activities available on a transatlantic cruise ship are extensive, offering everything from cinemas and planetariums, to spas, gyms and of course plenty of shops, bars and clubs.

Get style and comfort for less with a last minute cruise

For many it would be a dream come true for their next holiday to involve cruising off into the sunset onboard a luxury ship. Budgets are often a factor here, but ocean bound experiences can in fact be a lot less expensive than perceived for those who know where to look. Travel agents and cruise lines are offering some fantastic deals at the moment, particularly for those considering a last minute cruise. Booking late can allow holidaymakers to enjoy all the benefits traditionally associated with cruises, but at a much more affordable price.

Cruises offer the obvious advantage that you can see a range of different destinations in just one holiday when you travel between them on water. With itineraries as diverse as Spain to Morocco, and Southampton to Singapore, cruises already offer value for money in the variety that they bring to a holiday. And, of course, when it comes to cruises no minute of your holiday is wasted, because getting to your destination is just as much part of the fun as arriving there.

Luxury and style are the two words very often associated with the cruise experience. If you’re on a tight budget, you might consider a cruise ship to be an expensive way to travel, but there are ways around this. To save a substantial amount of money on your next trip a last minute cruise is a great option. To get the best deal, however, you will need to be flexible about dates and itineraries. If you are restricted on when you can go or have your heart set on a particular destination then don’t despair. You may still be able to find a discount cruise that fits the bill. Special offers are offered across a range of cruise lines and to a variety of destinations. Looking online will ensure you can quickly and easily locate the right deal for you.

United States Passports For Cruises Is Now Mandatory

Going on vacation is something that everyone looks forward to doing. Going on a cruise raises that level of excitement even more, as it is often the first and only time that people are going on a boat this large and actually leaving the country. However, anyone doing this should know the new travel laws that require expedited United States passports for cruises.

The best indicator of the necessity of pasports for a cruise is whether or not the cruise is international. In short, passports are needed for international travel and are not needed for domestic travel. Passports are never mandatory for domestic travel, but passport laws can vary for different types of international travel.

First and foremost, everyone needs to understand that many of the travel laws have changed quite dramatically over the last year or so. Prior to June 2009, there was no need to have a passport to travel to places like Mexico or Canada. Because of many of the events over the last ten years or so, these rules have now changed.

Obviously, anyone that is physically crossing the border into another country on a one way trip would need a passport, but they are also required in various other scenarios as they pertain to cruises. Even destinations that never required passports before are asking for them, but there are still some exceptions that can be noted.

Additionally, any cruise that starts in another country would require the use of a passport. This should be pretty obvious because a cruise starting in another country often requires international air travel. There are never exceptions for the need of a passport when it comes to air travel. Passports are also now required for all border crossings, so a passport is necessary for any cruise departing from an international port.

Currently, there are trips that are called “closed loop” cruises. They are nothing new to the industry and probably what you or your friends have traveled on before. This is a trip where the traveler boards in a port like Miami, travels to different areas and then returns to that very same port. Trips like this can present an exception to all other passport laws.

Passports are generally not required for closed loop cruises. In place of passports for cruises deemed closed loop, adult passengers are only required to bring a valid driver’s license and birth certificate. Closed loop voyage passport and document exemption laws only pertain to travel from a U.S port to ports in Canada, Mexico, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands, and select Caribbean Islands. Anyone unsure of the passport requirements for closed loop cruises to certain Caribbean Islands should consult with the cruise company, their travel agency or the State Department website. Anyone that has a passport would be wise to bring it along just in case.

It is always smart to read up on where the trip is going to see if expedited passports for cruises are required for that specific trip. Now as we said, even ifpassports are not required, it may be a smart move to at least have a passport card when traveling anywhere outside the United States. It is better to be safe than sorry and having extra documentation is never a bad thing for a traveler.

Dicount Cruise Holidays: Get The Trip Of A Lifetime For Less

Taking to the high seas for an ocean adventure is a fun and versatile way to spend a holiday. Cruises offer the opportunity to see a good variety of places in a short amount of time and choosing a discount cruise in particular means the experience can be had for a reasonable price as well. With a cruise ship holiday you could be sunning yourself on a sandy beach one day and strolling through pine groves on a completely different continent the next. The whole time you can enjoy yourself safe in the knowledge that your transport is waiting patiently for you at port, with a huge range of luxuries on board.

Being able to visit a number of different destinations in a single trip is one of the most obvious benefits of taking a cruise. In around 10 days, for example, you can explore Spain and North Africa, or head to the Med for a cruise around Greece, Turkey and Israel. And unlike many traditional holidays, the travelling is all part of the fun as you get to enjoy your cruise ship’s many comforts and facilities as you go.

While cruise ship holidays may often be considered as an expensive option, this does not have to be the case. Getting value for money, whether while on a cruise or staying at a 5 star hotel, is naturally a concern when on holiday. The all inclusive nature of cruise ship holidays helps to deliver value when compared with more traditional holidays and makes it easier to keep costs down. There are of course plenty of ways to spend extra cash on a cruise ship if you wish, from shopping, to a visit to the onboard casino, but all the basics will be covered to ensure an enjoyable trip.

Meanwhile, searching online can reveal discount cruise holidays starting from around just £50 per person per night. Booking early will help to ensure you get the most from your experience with the best choice of cabins. Late bookings can have their merits too, however, with considerable amounts saved if you opt for a last minute cruise deal.

Cruises offer the ultimate holiday experience

Travellers looking for a versatile and unique way to travel should consider taking a cruise. All sorts of holidaymaker will find something that appeals, whether seeking an exclusive, high end break or a more affordable discounted getaway. Whatever the budgets involved, cruises offer versatility, comfort and, of course, style, making them a truly superior holiday choice.

The opportunity to visit a range of different destinations in one holiday is an obvious advantage to a cruise. Cruises can be arranged in almost any corner of the world and can range from a few days to a few months. In ten days, for example, you could travel from mainland Spain to the Canary Islands and Morocco, or in around ten weeks you could travel from Sydney to Southampton. Whatever your ideal itinerary, cruises offer plenty of choice.

With a cruise ship holiday you could quite easily find yourself on a beach in Cyprus one day and browsing the shops in Israel the next. Unlike more traditional holidays, though, the journey between the two destinations won’t be fraught with angst while you wait at the airport or try to negotiate local transport. Instead, you’ll have been travelling in style, enjoying delicious international cuisine and fun activities in between relaxing on the deck in the sunshine at your leisure. One of the benefits of a cruise holiday is certainly the high level of comfort that can be offered on board, with many cruise ships aiming to make their guests feel ‘like royalty’ during their trip.

The ‘all inclusive’ nature of many cruise packages takes away some of the stresses commonly associated with traditional holidaying. Food and board will be covered for the duration of the holiday. Many cruise ships have multiple restaurants on board covering a range of international favourites, so there are plenty of options. In some cases, various entertainments and alcoholic drinks are included as well. So, safe in the knowledge that the basics are taken care of, holidaymakers can concentrate on enjoying themselves. Spare cash can be reserved for retail therapy, spa treatments, sports and activities, or fun at the ship’s bars and clubs… and the list goes on!

Take a Cruise To a Top Destination

Deciding what are the top cruise destinations can be a bit tricky. Travel experts sometimes choose to rank top choices in terms of personal preference, instead of most-visited locales. The most popular destinations don’t take too much research to figure out. {They’re generally lowest in price – a benefit of travel volume – and widely offered by many companies. You’ll find these destinations are low in price (because of the high travel volume) and are offered by most companies in the business.}

It’s probably no surprise that the hands-down winner in the competition is the Caribbean. This string of islands in the Atlantic offer travelers sun, fun, and sand, a classic vacation combination. Either concentrate longer time on a few islands, or take a lengthier trip that explores the whole region.

Consider also the gorgeous expanse of Alaska, another popular cruise destination. People love Alaskan cruises because of the exhilarating activities available on these cruises. Dog sledding, skiing, helicopter rides, and glacier excursions are just a few of the options available to rugged adventurers.

Aspiring cruisers might be intrigued by a Hawaiian cruise. Another tropical locale, it offers all the sun and sand of the Caribbean, with the added benefit of some of the most striking natural scenery in the world. If you’re a surfer, there’s just no better place in the world to enjoy your sport. Shoppers will find Hawaii a shopping mecca! For hikers, you can always take a jaunt up to one of Hawaii’s active volcanoes.

Warm weather destinations really hold sway among cruisers, if the volume of travel to The Bahamas is any indication. Beautiful beaches, parasailing, and outdoor activities aplenty.

Finally, Mexico is a popular and affordable option for cruisers. Mexico has many different destinations to consider, including Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco, just to name a few. Depending on how old you are and the types of activities that interest you, some of the cities will be more appealing to you than will be others. Do some Internet research or consult a travel agent to determine which Mexican itinerary would suit you the best.

What Does It Take For a Cruise To Be Luxury?

The variety of cruise options available to people these days is staggering. Some are only a few days long whilst others can last months. Some take you to beach resorts, whilst others to Antarctic conditions. The greatest variety however is provided by the cost of certain cruises. You can now book cruises that cost very little indeed, and still find many that are more luxurious than any other form of travel. Lets examine exactly what makes a luxury cruise.

Service. Above all else, it is the service that makes a cruise luxury. If a cruise ship gets nothing else right, as long as the service is exemplary, it can still be salvaged for the customers. From the welcome introduction to the farewell send off, you should expect the conduct and attentiveness of all the staff to be of the highest quality. On certain 5 star cruises, you may even get your own butler.

Food. One thing that has always been of a good base standard on most cruise ships is the food, but on the cheaper modern cruises standards sometimes slip. On the upper end of the cruise ship scale, your food and drink is often made up by world class chefs and award winning barmen and women. Further more, if you pay for luxury you often pay for the flexibility to order what you want and when you want it.

Facilities & Entertainment
. The step up in standard of provisions between the lesser and luxury ships is often marked. Luxury cruises can afford to provide the best quality facilities such as gyms and pools, and also put on the most amazing shows. The top performers often strive to work on the best ships such as Oceania Cruises, so it most often the case that the best professional performers and directors are snapped up by luxury cruise lines and provide real quality entertainment.

Insider Secrets to Cruising

Taking your first cruise is a thrilling prospect, and it’s a good idea to take in a few tips to make the most of your experience. First-timers sometimes don’t know what to expect on a cruise, so learning a few handy tricks can help everything go a little smoother. Consider the following cruise tips, and keep them in mind as you begin your cruising adventure.

There are several things to bring that might surprise you. For instance, it’s a great idea to pack a small travel alarm clock, since some ships do not have them in the room standard. Even if you’re headed to a tropical locale, it’s a good idea to bring along a cardigan or fleece that you can toss on over your outfits. The air conditioning can sometimes blow a little hard for many tastes, and you can avoid having to get a sweater while on your trip. Be sure to pack your photo ID and travel documents.

Bring a carry-on bag with you when you depart, include items needed for your first day. Plenty of people will be boarding with you, so in case of a delay in delivering your baggage, you’ll be set to go for the day. Grab your swimsuit and put it in there, as well, so there’s no delay if you want to take a dip. Though it may be tempting, it’s a good idea to avoid the ship’s shops right off the bat. If anything, just window-shop for a few days. Often there are sales and discounts that only begin after a few days.

Several of the different cruise lines allow people to bring their own beverages on board (non-alcoholic). Don’t be surprised if you see experienced cruisers wheeling a few 12-packs of Coke along to their rooms! This is a great way to save money on drinks while you’re on board ship, where drink prices are sometimes high.

These are just a few simple tips to help you more enjoy your upcoming cruise. Bon voyage!

How to get rid of cruise misconceptions as you travel ?

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

For the rest of the world, cruising is a great experience no amount of money could afford to alter. On the other hand, there are still people who think that it sucks to go on a cruise and it is not fun travel at all. What are the reasons why some people manage not to like cruising when in fact it is stereotyped as “adventurous way to travel”?

One of the most common reasons is that he thinks that a cruise could be very boring travel; this is not at all true. The cruise ship offers everything that is just right for one’s enjoyment.

There are a lot of things and activities waiting for you so do not get stuck in a corner, go out and meet people- at daylight, you could enjoy the games. Moreover, it is also a reliever from stress and anxiety. The traditional way of relaxing near the pool with eyes set on the star-studded sky or flash one’s eyeballs on the beautiful people.

Some offer spa and other beauty as well as teenagers. But there are others too. As the night curtains are dropped, there are numerous bars and parties could help you socialize and mingle with others.

Others are afraid to try experiencing a cruise for he or she might be seasick. Seasickness is normal back in the past. Nowadays ships are so smooth-sailing, so they do not have large tendency to let you have seasickness. The chance to travel is worth the adventure, you do not have to be very cautious about it.

The biggest mistake a person could think is that he or she will not feel comfortable. The reason she tries to evade from cruising is that there are many people who could not drink and those who could. There are people who are like that, but I am like this…is the usual drama. You need not worry about that we could fix it anytime soon.

For younger people, they do not consider joining the older population. They think that it is not good to be in a cruise and travel because people there are all old. This is half of the truth- but let us appreciate the fact that you are there and you are unique. Meeting people along the way is not something to be afraid of bridging the differences.

The reason of others is that they have a bit of knowledge in ships and they think it is disadvantageous means to travel. You are there to unwind not to look at you an engineer who knows all the parts of their function and enumerate them to people you meet.

These are just some of the many misconceptions. These are not that strong for someone who has in his heart what he does. And, sometimes we need to look for other things… When the fact is they are just near our reach. Travel, it is a chance to be savored and not wasted.

Luggage Tips for Cruises

Going on a cruise is a great adventure. First time cruisers often wonder how much luggage to bring. Due to the size constraints of most cruise ship rooms, you don’t want to bring more than you need. The following luggage tips can help you get the most enjoyment on your next cruise.

The number one piece of luggage you will need is a good quality carry on bag. If you are flying to your port city, most domestic airlines will allow a size 22 carry on luggage. Be sure to get a rolling carry on bag as this will make traveling much easier. When packing, be sure to pack all of your essentials in the carry on. When you arrive to your ship, you will be checking in your entire luggage except the carry on. Since your your larger luggage pieces will be sent to your room in the evening, you will only have what you packed in your carry on for most of the first day.

A good luggage to consider would be a Travelpro 22 inch carry on bag. The TravelPro Platinum 6 Expandable Rollaboard is a popular and versatile carry on.

Experienced cruisers tend to bring one large suitcase in addition to a carry on bag. Of course, if you are going on a long 7-day cruise, you might want to bring an additional mid sized bag. While a cruise is a relaxing experience, dealing with multiple pieces of luggage at the end of a cruise can be daunting and a bit frustrating. Keeping you luggage to a minimum can help make that last day more manageable.

When choosing luggage, be sure to find one with a garment compartment. This will limit the need for a garment bag.

You’ll also want to consider bringing soft side luggage instead of hard sided. Soft sided luggage is lighter and has the flexibility to fit in tight areas. Hard sided luggage tends to be heavier and is not that forgiving when it comes with storing.

Things to Think About For Your Initial Cruise

When you make your mind up that you wish to go on your first Cruise Vacation, there are a several issues that you need to define to assist you with your preparation.

Who is it that is going on this cruise vacation with you? Everybody is welcome on nearly all cruises, if you are planning to take kids be certain to ask regarding what entertainment and activities are available for child’s age.

Money-wise, you want to decide how much cash you wish to spend, and calculate a realistic budget for yourself.  Normally, about $100 US a day is sufficient, not counting the cost of traveling to and from the cruise ship itself. Make sure you know  exactly what is included in your cruise price; some extras that used to be included  are nowadays an additional expense. There are a couple different methods to save, like taking advantage of the early bird fares and booking in advance. Also, while it’s risky, for those of you with flexible schedules, booking last minute can save you a bunch as well.

So, what’s the most affordable way to travel to your cruise ship? The most common ways are by car or plane. A cruise can be a impressive finish to a road trip.  A number of cruise lines are able to give you a flight and cruise package, which is simpler, and not so stressful means to plan your trip, plus it usually includes the expensive transfers from the airport to your cruise ship. As well, most cruise lines usually take care of your baggage, which means they can transfer it promptly to your cabin.

The next big decision for you is to decide when it is that you want to travel.  Timing wise, if you are planning on only spending a week on vacation, you are limited to the sunny regions, such as Mexico, most of the Caribbean, or the Bahamas. If you are going without family and have a flexible timetable, the fall and spring are usually the least expensive times.  In the more tropical regions, the temperature does not vary too much, but what does change is the quantity of rainfall. Remember that most locations have their rainy period in the winter, and the dry season is the summer.

When selecting where to cruise to, a good starting point is determining what kind of things you want to do, because each destination comes with a well-defined ambience. There are always numerous water sports offered on the ships, including snorkelling and pool activities and more energetic things such as scuba diving.  Port calls frequently take you to the “tourist” sites, such as museums and historical sites. If you choose to wander off on your own, be cautious of ‘friends’ that will willingly show you the so called good stores to shop in, because they are working off of commission with those stores. Normally a courteous ‘no thank you’ should be good enough to deter the advances.  The cruise line will provide you a listing of activities for the port stops that are offered. There are limited availability for some of the tours, so sign up in advance if it’s something you especially wish to do.

If you are anxious about your first cruise vacation, an excellent thing to do is make sure you obtain a cabin you are going to be contented in for your cruise, because it is going to be your home for the length of your vacation. If small spaces trouble you, a cabin with a balcony may be good for you.

If you think about all of these issues prior to booking your first cruise vacation, you will have a pleasurable vacation.

Ensure that you need not have to pay any extra amount for travelling in the ship just because  you are a disabled person. It is important for you to know about the provisions and the facilities which are present in the ship before you go to book your ticket in the ship.

Splendour of Cruising on the Seven Seas

Cruising is the preferred holiday option for those who enjoy luxury, relaxation and variety and the splendour of the seven seas.Incidentally, around the time of the tales of Sinbad and the Arabian Nights the “Seven Seas” would have been the Persian Gulf, the Black Sea, the Caspian Sea, the Red Sea (including the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea), the Mediterranean Sea, the Adriatic sea and the Arabian Sea.In fact, there are over 100 bodies of water called seas of one sort of another, but after the Europeans discovered America , the phrase “Seven Seas” largely referred to The Pacific, Atlantic, Indian and Arctic Oceans, the Mediterranean Sea, Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico.

It’s the expanses of Ocean in the modern definition that Regent Seven Seas Cruises plies.  The fleet of vessels operated by this company are definitely for those who like the amenities and variety of public spaces that a larger ship can provide, but still want the all-inclusive luxury and exemplary service you get on a 6-star vessel.  The 50,000-tonne Seven Seas Mariner for example certainly provides that. The world’s first all-suite, all-balcony ship capable of accommodating 700 guests, it also boasts the first Le Cordon Bleu restaurant at sea.Her sister ship, the Seven Seas Voyager, is equally luxuriously appointed as is the 490 guest Seven Seas Navigator.

For luxury cruises in the South Pacific, The Paul Gauguin (smallest ship in the Regent fleet carrying just 320 guests and a crew of 215) sails the waters of French Polynesia. As befits the area the ship cruises, she is a warm and friendly vessel with an intimate ambiance but does not have the breadth of facilities found on other Regent cruise ships.Even so, the Paul Gauguin is one of the best ships to ply the waters of the South Pacific with guests enjoying a casual dress code appropriate to the Polynesian destinations, food inspired by a two-star Michelin French chef and plenty of water sports opportunities with her own retractable marina.

Cruising the UK

For most of us, it’s the romance of the Caribbean that springs to mind when you suggest a cruise holiday and the prospect of sun, tropical islands and beautiful beaches certainly makes the West Indies and the Gulf of Mexico the number one choice for many first time cruisers. Some hardier types are drawn to the icy majesty of a cruise to Alaska, while others plump for the tried and trusted Mediterranean cruise with itineraries that cover Italy, Greece and the Greek islands.  For most of us, the world cruise remains a “one of these days” proposition, provided we retire early or win the national lottery.

River cruises are a great way to see the European continent, with packages covering the Danube, the Volga and, most popular of all, the Rhine. Certainly, very few river cruises can match the spectacular scenery between Bingen and Bonn as the Middle Rhine flows through the stunning Rhine Gorge with its fairytale romantic castles and vineyards towering on top of the steep gorge banks. But how many of us have seriously considered cruising the UK?Britain and Ireland have scenery just as spectacular as that found in Europe, or anywhere in the world for that matter.  It’s true that the weather (or rather its unpredictable nature) is the only element that lets’ the UK down, but a luxury cruise around the British Isles can be rewarding as well as relaxing. The popularity of the recent BBC TV programme “Coast” showed that there is a demand for exploring the romantic and exotic on our doorstep, so why not do that in 5 star comfort and style aboard a modern cruise ship?

Many operators have packages that take in the Channel Islands, as well as the Isles of Scilly before sailing on to Ireland where guests can enjoy the “craik” in Dublin. These same cruise programmes often include trips to the stark beauty of the Hebrides and the Western isles as well as the Orkneys and Shetland, Leith in Edinburgh and the world-class city that is London.  So next time you think of booking a cruise holiday, don’t discount the sheer variety of landscapes, experiences and destinations you could enjoy closer to home.

Boutique Cruising in Casual Style

If you find big ship cruising just a little impersonal there are some operators that provide a smaller, more intimate service that may suite your needs.  SeaDream Yacht Club Cruises are the perfect antidote to the faceless “Butlins- on-water” approach of the mass market cruise.  The vessels operated by this company are not so much cruise ships as superbly equipped mega-yachts and a true taste of marine luxury.

SeaDream operates only two vessels: SeaDream I and II which originally entered service in 1984 and 1985 respectively. They were bought by SeaDream Yacht Club in 2001 and were extensively refitted to make them contemporary, chic, all-inclusive boutique yachts. They both carry just 108 passengers, serviced by 89 crew, sailing the Mediterranean in the summer months and Caribbean in the winter.

This entire ethos of these vessels is to provide a luxury cruise experience for a younger, more informal and fun crowd around 40+ who seek relaxed and casual entertainment but still insist on high standards of service, food and accommodation.SeaDream I and II are therefore ideal for people who want an ultra-luxury cruising experience but in a casual style, so dress code does not include tuxedos or ball gowns on board these ships.  Partially as a consequence of that luxurious informality, the average age of passengers is lower than you would normally expect on a cruise and tends to attract couples and honeymooners.

Typical guests tend to be a bit more active too.The vessels have swimming platforms that can be lowered as required and guests have use of the onboard jet skis and small boats.Because they are relatively small ships, they can also visit ports that other bigger ships could not even consider and although more akin to large yachts, they still have room for the facilities and amenities that you’d expect of any five-star establishment, afloat or on shore.  A fully equipped spa is available on both ships and both have a well stocked library with full Internet access.Guests can even watch a movie in the Main Salon.

Choosing between Princess and P&O Cruises

If you like the idea of going on a cruise holiday then you could be spoiled for choice with many different luxury cruise companies to choose from and an even wider range of destinations that you could pick. The great part of cruise ship holidays is that you can pick almost anywhere there are oceans for the boat to cruise on, this means that pretty much anywhere in the world that isn’t land locked can be accessed and in most cases stopped at for you to be able to get off and explore.

Two of the main cruise companies available to choose from are Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises, both with a wide range of destinations cruised to by a large fleet of luxury liners at any time of year. P&O are well known for world trips and other destinations such as Dubai and the Middle East or further destinations such as Asia and the Orient. Princess cruises also have a wide range of destinations too that include Australia and Hawaii and the South Pacific. Princess Cruises even have tours that go where boats can’t reach with their range of CruiseTours.

Princess’ CruiseTours includes cruise ship sections of their trips but also luxury rail services that can take you inland to some truly amazing sights you may have struggled to see on a cruise holiday. One popular destination for this is Alaska and Canada, by taking these special CruiseTours you can experience much more whilst you are on your cruise holiday.

The boats on which you will stay during your cruise holiday are the very definition of luxury. Even when staying in the cheapest accommodation and dining options on board the multiple decks and activities you can enjoy whilst on board the liner will be perfect for the ultimate relaxing holiday. A lot of cruise holidays used to be known for being a couple only type of holiday and whilst there are still child-free liners as a part of P&O cruise holidays as well as other companies a lot more liners are becoming family friendly with plenty of childcare and children’s entertainment and activities available.

Cruise holidays can be taken in warmer climates such as the Caribbean or Mediterranean seas and these tend to be typical destinations for most cruise ship holidays but colder climates with their stunning vistas like Scandinavia, Alaska and the Baltic regions are equally popular for cruise holidays these days.

Choosing between Cunard and P&O Cruises

Cruise ship holidays have been popular for many years where instead of being tied to one destination for your holiday you get to experience many more types of cultures and countries. Cruise ship holidays aren’t just spent on the decks of the cruise liner as many cruises have multiple stop offs at ports along the way, allowing you to set foot on land to experience the local atmosphere, do some gift shopping and other activities.

When people think of cruise ship holidays there are usually two main companies that come to mind: P&O and Cunard. Both have their advantages and their destinations can be similar with each one having a few different options compared to the other. Their cruise ships themselves are similar too in some ways but generally their fleet will have many different ships that can cater to different crowds.

For instance P&O cruises have ships such as the Artemis that is a child-free boat, there are many people who take cruise holidays to get away from the screaming children at beach resorts so having the option for just a couple’s holiday without children around can be right up some people’s street. Other ships though are family orientated to help dispel the myth that cruise ship holidays are for older tourists.

Cunard Cruises have a smaller although incredibly impressive fleet including the Queen Mary 2 which recently visited Liverpool docks hailed as the grandest, most magnificent ocean liner ever built. The Queen Mary 2’s most recent trip has been a cross Atlantic trip to New York which is one of the many routes or voyages you can book a place on.

Other destinations that the Cunard ships travel on are the USA and Canada, Scandinavia and the Baltic region for a cruise with a difference and many familiar trips such as Caribbean and Mediterranean and round the world cruises. P&O has many more ships in its fleet and so has a wider choice of destinations such as Central America, Asia and the Orient and even Dubai and the Middle East which can include holiday hotspots such as Sharm El Sheikh too.

Both Cruise line companies have a lot of choice not only from what ships and which countries to visit but accommodation and dining options for the duration of your trip too. Depending on how much money you are willing to spend you can upgrade your cabin to a more luxurious one or you could choose more exquisite meals. The Aurora ship from P&O has a Marco Pierre-White restaurant on board.

Coastlines are usually avoided by larger sea vessels. They cannot go against what environmental controls dictate and at the same time consider how many people they hold. Hopping from one destination to the next is hard to do aboard a cruise so those who enjoy such activities might be disappointed. You need to review the regulations on cruise lines if you want to go ashore and are traveling via larger vessels. You have plenty of time to do activities you like from mountain climbing to scuba diving to kayaking. Clinics and physicians on small vessels are available for free. There is a charge for seeing a medical professional on a bigger ship.

Safety is a major issue. Ice ratings and rankings tied to minor ships are usually on the high side. The ships minimize iceberg mishaps and punctures by being fortified for the ice. Make sure that the ship you will be travelling on is fully equipped with what it needs in case of an emergency. This is usually a legal requirement so ships are forced to obey.

There are lots to learn aboard smaller ships. Familiarize yourself with Antarctica through information provided by knowledgeable historians. Do Cheaper Prices Mean More Fighting?

Of course Cruising has always been a luxury holiday, that only the people that afford it can really go on, what has hapoened to all of this recently? Well the economic downturn seems to have made many luxury cruises accessible to more and more people.

Recently in the news it would seem that disaster has hit and many people are complaining that there are more arguments, more fighting and just more people who seem to enjoy causing problems for others. The word Chav seems to crop up many times when I was researching all of this. Although it seems a bit harsh to call lower classes CHAVS it would seem that like most of the time it is a very small minority causing the problems. It is very hard for me to understand why people would save up all of their money just so they can go onboard to cause many problems.

There is no need to go and get drunk at every available opportunity at all and it is very strange to see why people do this when they are on a cruise ship. The thing is it needs to be realised that with cheaper prices it means you are going to get some nasty people on ships who just want to cause a bit of hassle. They do this simply for fun but there is no way that this should discourage you from taking one of those oceania cruises. it very rarely occurs and if something does happen then it will be taken care of almost straight away.

How are the decent people going to be able to afford to go on a cruise if these prices go back up, they are not and to take them up for a few incidents would be very uncalled for.

So don’t take any notice of what you hear in the news, go out and enjoy your Silversea cruises!

Is the olympic ship being built or not?

This is something that has been put forward many times and then dropped again but after reassessing the situation they are actually considering doing this for real.

Why on earth does this happen? It is not known why the country is spending so much money on this when we are currently suffering so badly from the depression? The 2012 games will hopefully bring a bit of a boost to this country as it certainly does need it so why on earth does it even matter where all the competitiors go to sleep, the real answer is that it doesnt in any way at all?

They are no different to anyone else and I do not see why they are treated in a different way as they are just trying to do thier job. It is also unknown why the government are building giant training facilities as surely these countries have their own. The plan for the ship afterwards is most likely to turn it into a museum which of course will be great fun. I do not know a person on earth who would enjoy visiting a place where tired and smelly athletes had slept in? It is truly madness that the government seem to be more interested in pleasing a few visitors for two weeks than the country itself!

There is an idea to build a big hotel for all of the athletes but I really do not understand why they do not just sick them into normal hotels, they are not exactly famous/. What a waste of money is building the hotel, there is certainly a hotel with enough space for these people, why waste tax payers money.

Of course going on a real luxury cruises is a lot nicer than watching the Olympic one being built so why not think about taking one of those river cruises and just going away for a bit.

Five star cruises can be a really nice way to get away from it all, so why not try it.

Taking an Antarctic cruise involves making plenty of decisions. The trick to choosing a good cruise ship is to look at how well they can accommodate your trip needs. This piece discusses the plus sides when considering which Antarctic cruises ship option suits you best.

It is important for you to know what size Antarctic cruise ship you want for the trip. About 50 to 100 passengers can come with you on a smaller vessel. Between 200 and 3000 people can fit in on a big ship at any one time. Picking a shipping vessel for Antarctic travel involves looking at the upsides and drawbacks. Big ships give you many of the same recreations of living and vacationing on land. Drop by gyms and casinos or entertain yourself another way by participating in group socials. You can get your hair done before dinner and visit a doctor if you feel sick. Small ship Antarctica cruises tend to be warmer than their large ship counterpart.

Large ships usually do not go near the shoreline. What stops them are the environmental laws and the large number of people they have aboard. Hopping from one destination to the next is hard to do aboard a cruise so those who enjoy such activities might be disappointed. Those excited about traveling to the shoreline need to be clear on what the ship regulations are for bigger ships. Remember that these liners cannot stay docked for extended periods at locations. You will gain a deeper understanding about antarctica cruise by checking out that resource.

A smaller ship gives you more time to explore because it drops anchor more often. These ships are moored near shorelines which buys you more time for wildlife and secluded area exploration. Fewer individuals mean fewer issues to see to.

There is an air of informality in small cruise lines. Cruise staff and passengers are also easy to adjust to. Have fun engaging in favorite pastimes like kayaking and mountain climbing or snorkeling. Passengers are not charged for consulting physicians at the small ship clinic. There is a charge for seeing a medical professional on a bigger ship.

Never forget safety. Ice ratings and rankings tied to minor ships are usually on the high side. Damage from icebergs is avoided by the ships because they are built for the ice. Your ship has to have the right equipment to enable it to address emergency cases properly. But this is seldom an issue because there are regulations ships have to follow.

A cruise on a smaller ship can be quite educational. Historians and other experts can share with you what they know about the Antarctica experience. A firm specializing in Antarctica Cruises deserves a second or third look. Specialty cruise firms know how to deliver an awesome Antarctica trip. Small and big vessels are not the same and if you know how one is different from the other it will be easier for you to pick the most suitable choice. It is a given that you expect to have a grand time throughout the trip.

Cruise Ship Vacations for Seniors

In many areas of the world, including the united states, we frequently view pensioners as having boundaries.  While health worries may plague some old age pensioners, most individuals are healthy and cheerful.  Actually, many consider their senior years to be the prime of their live.  If you are one of those people, you might experience fun and excitement aboard a cruise liner.

One of the most typical concerns aboard a cruise is safety.  Many old age pensioners and their relations are concerned with the health hazards of taking a cruise.  If you or your family has fears associated with extended cruises, you can wish to seek guidance from your folks physician.  With a straightforward visit, your physician may simply be able to establish whether you are up for the excursion.

If and when you receive the O.K from your GP, you can start to further examine holidaying aboard a liner.  When inspecting cruise ships, you are encouraged to examine a number of cruise lines and each one of the ships that they have available.  To start on your search, it is suggested that you inspect Royal Caribbean Cruises, Celebrity Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, and Princess Cruises.  The foresaid cruise lines are only a few of many that service travelers ; however, they’re regularly considered the hottest.

When inspecting a specific ship, you are encouraged to go searching for activities and services that you are interested in.  These services are vital because they’re often the sole way for seniors to find the ideal liner.  At the current time, there is not a huge, well-known liner company that offers cruises specifically for senior voters.  That doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t take a cruise.  It does ; however, mean that you might need to spend longer researching your available options.

You can and should search for ship activities based on your own preferences.  Many seniors like cruise ships that offer chic dinning facilities and activities aimed towards mature crowds.  If safety is a concern, you may want to holiday on board a family fun cruise.  These cruises are geared towards individuals and families of every age.  Many times, a family fun cruise has a more suitable environment.  Seniors, including yourself, could find this environment warm and welcoming.

Once you have made the decision to take a cruise liner vacation, you could be excited to book your reservations.  Senior citizens are advised to refrain from buying tickets and making travel accommodations on an impulse.  This is because many seniors qualify for cruise liner and other travel reductions.  Many of these refunds are offered by AARP, Triple A, and other membership clubs.  Even if you may not qualify for travel deals and reductions you should still see whether they exist.  Until you look, you never can say if you can book an alaskan cruise from san francisco at a discounted price .

Cruise ship travel is a fun, exciting, and rewarding experience, irrespective of what your age.  All most all cruise ships are safe enough that you can even vacation alone.  If you’re involved with your safety while traveling alone, you may want to invite along family or your senior mates.  With a large number of concessions it is quite possible that you can all enjoy a vacation on board a ship, without having to go broke.

The Vacation of a Lifetime Can Be Had in Alaska

When you come across great Alaskan cruise, you might ask yourself this: If I am given a chance to visit one place, where would it be? Alaska should definitely considered as a cruise destination for your next vacation. The beautiful state that is located north of the continental United States and east of Canada. It is a favorite destination for various cruises because of the land’s majestic beauty that truly captivates anyone who sees it in person. For this reason, if you want to experience Alaska first hand, finding a short list of exciting cruises is a great way to start.

The natural resources and abundance of natural sights make this trip all worth it. Tranquility and peace can be found in the whiteness of the terrain that is Alaska. This trip should expose you amazing wildlife, such as; seals, polar bears and mountain goats. After all, only a few people all over the world can afford such a cruise ship and has seen such a beautiful view. Of course, these are all possible if you can choose among some Alaskan cruise deals.

How can you find out if the cruise you are interested in is worth your hard earned cash? After all, even if you can find some Alaskan cruise deals, these could still be quite expensive compared to other tourist destinations. But if you want the best relaxing experience, you will definitely want to read the fine prints on everything that you buy, including your cruise tickets.

Learn how the accommodations will be. Do you get a single-bed room or a shared one or perhaps a bunker like room? Prices, of course, will depend on your accomodations. The higher the price range, with whatever Alaskan cruise deals that you might find, the more luxurious your accommodations will be.

Cruise Ship Vacations on a Budget

Millions of people and families would like to take a vacation ; however, many are financially unable to.  If a holiday does occur, it is often a visit to a local amusement park or campgrounds.  These small holidays regularly happen because individuals limit themselves.  If you’re interested by taking an extravagant holiday, such as a cruise, you are suggested not to limit yourself.  With the willpower to do so, almost anything is possible with a budget, even cruises to alaska from washington.

If you and your family have an interest in planning a cruise ship vacation, but you feel that you may be unable to, you are counseled not to assume.  This assumption could stop you from enjoying the holiday that you want and deserve.  To make a ship holiday possible for you and your folks, all you may have to do is a bit of budgeting.

For many individuals, developing a family budget is a tiny sacrifice, but for others it may be bigger.  The more cash you want to save for a cruise, the harder it may be to save.  The first step in saving money for your liner getaway is to identify where your money is going.  This can easily be attained by documenting your spending activities.  Everything from the home loan payment, lease, vehicle insurance, even that cup of joe you bought should be recorded.

After documenting your spending habits for a week or a month, you will have to look at your findings.  Many individuals are shocked to discover how much money they’re wasting on unnecessary purchases.  These purchases often include, but aren’t restricted to single serve beverages, cigarettes, alcohol, and out-of-home dining.  To save cash for your ship holiday, you’ll need to chop all pointless purchases.

Cutting needless purchases may sound easy, but the reality is that it regularly isn’t.  There are some people who can’t do without their cigarettes or their morning cup of joe.  If you are unable to control your spending habits, you are inspired to switch them as much as practical.  For example, instead of buying a cup of jo mug of coffe cup of coffee each morning, you can brew your own at home.  Additional alterations may be made to stop your habits from impacting your alaska cruise ship vacation fund.

When saving money for a vacation aboard a ship, you need to confirm that you actually save the money.  All too commonly, many individuals take the money they saved by creating a once a month budget and spend it on something other than what they originally intended.  If you find it tricky to hold on to your savings, you may wish to open a saving account at your local bank.  In addition to amassing interest, you are less likely to spend the cash because it is safely hidden away.

Curtailing your spending habits is one of the best ways to generate funding to take your dream vacation on board a cruise liner.  While saving money is important, it’s not the only possible way that you can plan a cruise ship holiday on a budget.  There are a large number of internet travel websites.  These web sites may offer you important deals and savings.  Other cruise discounts can be obtained through membership clubs or your local travel agent.

getting the financing required for a ship getaway may seem like a difficult task, but aftertime it may become a part of your daily routine.  Saving money and obtaining cruise liner refunds are both great methods to obtain the required financing, but together they can save you more money than you ever imagined.

Why Taking A Cruise Vacation Could Save Your Life

Taking cruises for your vacation offers so many advantages over simply staying in one place. With a cruise you encounter an almost all inclusive vacation that offers you a comfortable cabin, delicious food all day long, entertainment, and daily activities. Your staff has your comfort in mind when they change damp towels during the day every time you leave your cabin and they turn down your bed at night.

For one fee, you will have all the above mentioned features and services in your hotel at sea. Staterooms are another option to consider, aside from the standard inside cabins. Staterooms with balconies and some staterooms with an outside view will cost a bit more than the standard. These upgrades are wonderful, but they do not affect much more than where you sleep. If you are using your cabin to hang your clothes and take a shower, sleep for a bit and then continue on with all the other activities, you may opt to occupy the standard room.

The ship bustles with daily activities. Tango or salsa classes, trivia games, bands, and parties at the pool and art classes name just a few of the activities offered every day. You can relax at the indoor pool which is usually near the spa or you can go crazy and belly flop at the pool. Take a snooze before dinner so you can enjoy the nightly show!

There are tours on each island that can be purchased for a separate fee. There are cooking classes, horseback riding, golf, scuba diving and then the old-time “kind of free”… Shopping. Each and every island has something new and different to offer. Before disembarking, make sure you know what time to be back to the ship. Maybe you would like some extra time on Cozumel, but you will have to pay for your own transportation to catch up with the ship!

You don’t have to leave your ship while it is in port. Stay and enjoy the splendid ship for the day while the others onboard disembark to look around. You may be in the port of an often visited island and the day around the pool sounds fabulous. Indulge this day in a spa treatment or makeover.

Early breakfast or room service is ideal if you have an early morning tour on one of the islands. Otherwise, a full breakfast is served around 7 am to 9 am. Open seating is alway available for either breakfast or lunch. The buffet hums with activity and the chefs are busy at breakfast making omelets and waffles for you to enjoy.

What a lovely affair dinner is. Served in the dining room by wonderful waiters who can’t do enough for you. First class entrees are served graciously by well trained waiters. The whole meal is a marvelous, relaxing and indulgent two hours. Your waiter will call you by name and remember your preferences. The buffet is always well stoked with excellent food just waiting for you to dine.

Your cruise is a wonderful way to celebrate a holiday away from the everyday world. After this cruise you will have (unfortunately) become accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle that could leave you feeling disatisfied at home!

Cruise Holidays : Are Mediterranean Cruises Right For You?

In this installment of our cruise holidays guide we look at the Mediterranean…

A Mediterranean cruise is without doubt the most varied type of cruise available. There are 17 countries, and over 120 seaports, around the coastline of the Mediterranean, so there are many cruise vacation combinations available on trips that last a week, two weeks, or longer.

Over 50 companies have cruises available along various Mediterranean routes. Some specialize in Western Mediterranean cruises, focusing on ports around Spain, Portugal, Italy, Morocco and France. There are even companies that cater to those who want to visit the Eastern Mediterranean, which include countries like Croatia, Greece, Turkey, or even the Middle East.

Popular specialist Mediterranean cruises include a tour of the North African nations, a Mediterranean islands cruise that visits the island nations of Cyprus and Malta, as well as cruises around the Greek Islands. It’s also possible to arrange a cruise that will let you take in most if not all of the Mediterranean countries, if you’d like a longer vacation.

History, culture, grand cities, ancient monuments, romantic islands and breathtaking views are all within easy reach on a Mediterranean cruise. You can explore the snowy Andalusian villages of Southern Spain, taste the famed Manzanilla Sherry in Cadiz, and discover one of Europe’s cultural hubs in Barcelona before making your way to the French Riviera.

Cruising along the coats of the Italian peninsula is a popular way to view such cultural and historical sights as Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, and the fantastic city of Rome. The islands of Sicily and Sardinia are also not to be missed on a Western Mediterranean cruise. Passengers enjoying an Eastern Mediterranean cruise will view the gorgeous Croatian coastline and the beautiful city of Dubrovnik before heading down to the southeast to experience Greece and its lovely islands. The island of Crete is always worth a visit, if only for the historic Palace of Knossos.

Visiting the holy Jerusalem city is a great trek to take from either Israeli port, Ashdod or Haifa, while on a Mediterranean cruise through the Middle East. Egypt’s Port Said is well worth a visit too. Port Said has access to the world-renowned Suez Canal, where vessels travel into the Red Sea and on towards the Arabian Sea.

The capital of the Canary Islands is located on the Gran Canaria. This island is perfect for all cruise destinations because it has so many different activities to offer, such as some of the best beaches around, festivals, sports, historical areas, and even a great night scene.
