Britain Choose To Cruise

Cruising has become something of a phenomenon over the last 10 years. It can no longer be thought of as an over 60’s activity that only the super-rich can afford and were everybody learns how to waltz somewhere in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Cruise companies have diversified and now offer not only a much larger range of destinations but also theme, length, price, quality and demographic. What this has meant is that more people are able to enjoy a cruise these days…and they certainly are, with more cruise goers than there have ever been before.

The UK are those at the forefront of this move off of terra firma. There has always been a history of boat lovers in Britain and it seems that this tradition is still going strong as residents booked a massive 1.6 million cruise booking just this last year. This makes up a staggering 30% of all cruise bookings from the whole of Europe. Only Germany has a vague chance of challenging this title with a total of 21% market share according to results from a study conducted by Silversea Cruises at the Seatrade cruise convention in Miami.

The most popular cruise destinations for Europe as a whole are the Atlantic Islands and the Mediterranean. Which is strong evidence to suggest that sun and clear waters are still the biggest sellers. You don’t actually have to leave the boat these days to enjoy a fun-filled vacation. Most modern luxury cruises are equipped with multiple swimming pools, dining halls, theatres and even golf courses.

“The European cruise industry has seen an impressive 66% growth in the number of cruise passengers in the last five years…a trend that is set to continue” says chairman of the ECC and CEO of Oceania Cruises, David Dingle.

There are 20 new ships being built as we speak according to Dingle, all of which are bound for the European markets and all hitting the water by 2012.

Celebrating Spring Break aboard a ship

Are you a hardworking school student?  If so , are you looking forward to spring break?  Spring break is an extended break that all college kids in the U.  S.  are granted.  Unlike vacation breaks, spring break is often a time to vacation, unleashed, and have fun with your friends.

Choosing a bring break destination is a reasonably simple process.  There are a big number of college students who flock to the hottest spring break destinations.  These destinations include Cancun, South Beach, the Bahamas, or Panama city.  Each of these destinations is known for their sunny weather and superb nightlife.  Despite their recognition, these beaches frequently become overcrowded during spring break.  If you are interested in swaying away from the norm, you may want to consider spending your spring break aboard a cruise ship.  You may also want to consider an alaskan cruise from san francisco.

When it comes to cruise ships, many people mistakenly believe they are just for family holidays or romantic getaways.  The reality is that you can take a cruise at just about any point in your life and go just about anywhere you would like.  That includes spring break.  If you are interested in spending your break raving and enjoying life, you do not have to fret.  There are a number of cruise lines that have cruise ships that are just for you.

To discover a cruise liner that allows adventure, hoofing, and generally fun, you’ll need to do a little of research.  This research involves familiarizing yourself with well-liked cruise lines and the ships they offer.  If you’re looking to examine favored cruise lines, you are encouraged to find out more about Celebrity Cruises, Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, or Costa Cruises.  As well as these well-know cruise lines, it is likely that you are going to come across further cruise lines offering fun filled cruises, all around the globe.

When you’re looking for a cruise ship that offers excitement and adventure, you are encouraged to stay away from ships that target families.  Family cruises are often limited on the quantity of gambling or alcohol presumption that goes on.  If betting and alcohol consumption is allowed, excess amounts are typically scowled on.  To avoid confrontation, you are encouraged to remain away from these family cruise lines.  That’s unless you plan on spending your spring break with your folks.

in addition to family cruises, you may want to avoid cruise ships that target couples.  These romantic cruises are often aimed towards couples that have an interest in experiencing a romantic and relaxing cruise.  If you’re traveling with your other half, a romantic cruise could be acceptable for your needs.  Gambling and alcohol consumption is allowed on board most romantic cruises, but over the top amounts are also regularly scowled upon.  Alaskan cruises are fun year round.

To find the perfect ship for your summer vacation, you are encouraged to find a cruise ship that targets those seeking journeys.  In addition to offering exciting onboard activities, you are probably going to find the land adventures are just as fun.  Many party cruises or journey cruises dock in well known ports.  These ports may have activities that are just what you’re looking for.

Get Away From The Crowd, With A Completely Gay Cruise

Whatever your gay vacation style, sailing off on a gay cruise could be just the thing to experience something a little bit different. Many operators arrange these cruises now, with most focus being on two main types.

The first of these is the gay environment cruise,, where a liner is chartered for the sole use of a gay crowd.

These cruises tend to have customized entertainment, often from some of the leading  entertainers on the gay scene. With a host of activities to enjoy alongside numerous  other events and parties, theses cruises tend to cater for those party animals amongst  you.

On such a cruise, you are guaranteed of a fantastic atmosphere and the parties and shows often see appearances by the leading stars of the gay entertainment scene, whilst on a large vessel, you can party with thousands of others; just like you.

If all this seems just a little full on for an extended time; you may prefer the more serene atmosphere hosted by joining a group aboard a mainstream liner. For obvious reasons, these are tamer affairs whilst still allowing you to chill with people just like you.

Downsides to these cruises generally center around the entertainment offered which,  understandably enough, is more geared to the straight crowd. However, many of these  cruises do manage to arrange special events by invite only; whilst time on land can  also be structured more appropriately.

Being a part of a mainstream cruise, many people prefer this approach, as things may get, well, a little too gay on a gay environment cruise. At least here, you can have the joys of both.

No matter what you gay cruise choice, you are sure to have a fantastic time. The only really hard decision will be where to cruise!

The Differences of Cruise Ships

When you are looking forward to taking a cruise, you often see various cruises from one line aboard the various ships they have in operation. Take Princess cruise lines for example. There are many Princess cruise ships in operation so you may be wondering the differences between the Sea Princess cruise ship and the Golden Princess cruise ship. For one, the ships often go to different destinations. However, the ships themselves will have differences. For instance, one may be bigger than the other, there may be a rock climbing wall on one while the other has none, and other differences that may make you choose one over the other. If you’re interested in a particular ship, such as the Sea Princess cruise ship, it’s recommended that you do your research before you book so that you know what you’re getting.

Contact The Cruise Line

The better choice would be to contact the cruise line directly. If you’re talking about the Sea Princess cruise ship, call Princess Cruises and ask them what’s so special about this ship. They may tell you that the Sea Princess cruise ship is the newest ship in operation at Princess cruises, that it only visits certain ports, that it has two pools, a rock climbing wall and more. The cruise line will know all the intricacies of a ship like the Sea Princess cruise ship and they will be the ones to ask if you have any questions.

Reviews

However, the cruise line is unlikely to tell you of any problems regarding a ship like the Sea Princess cruise ship. For that, you’re better off going online to see what people think of it. Just do a search of Sea Princess cruise ship and you’ll likely get all the information you require. You should also visit Cruisebruise.com where you can find out if the Sea Princess cruise ship has had any incidents you may want to know about such as deaths, fires, etc.

The bottom line, though, is that Princess Cruise lines is one of the best in the industry so no matter which ship you choose, you’ll definitely have a great time. But if you’re still wondering, go online or call the cruise lines to find out all about the ship you’ll be traveling on so that there are no surprises and so that you know what you’re paying for. However, if you’re one who likes to be surprised, just leave it up to fate as you’re sure to enjoy your time on the Sea Princess cruise ship or any other ship within the Princess line.

Different Cruise Spots

Could it be the Caribbean which many cruise ships sail around. Where will your next cruise vacation spot be?? How about British Honduras, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Dominica, Grand Antigua, Cayman, South Carolina, Martinique, Barbados, St. Lucia, Louisiana, Texas, Florida, the Bahamas or Mexico. These are all spots from cruises taking off from places such as Fort Lauderdale.

You could try a cruise in the Mediterranean calling at such vacation spots such as, Greece, Turkey, Italy, France, Spain, Gibraltar, Portugal and other Mediterranean countries. When visiting Gibraltar you must check out the “Rock” but look out for the Apes. These are known as the Barbary Apes and they want you to feed them. I have seen people being attacked by the apes in their search for food. It can be very scary if it is you being attacked but very funny if you are watching it. If it happens to you just let go of the food and the Apes will leave you alone. It’s the food they are after.

There are other places to cruise in Europe such as Norway, cruising up the coast and fiords visiting isolated communities in the deep-sea valleys on the west coast of Norway. The scenery is dramatic and by cruising above the artic circle you can experience the land of the midnight sun. This sun never sets in summertime but in wintertime it never rises. Because of this you need to make sure you only cruise this area in the summer. Just as much fun as Norway is Alaska where you can get just as dramatic scenery and it is just as much fun.

Some cruise ships in the US spend the winter months cruising the Caribbean and the summer months cruising the West coast of Alaska. These ships need to reposition themselves during the fall and springtime and do this through the Panama Canal. These cruises are highly recommended due to the unique experience of the Panama Canal. The US completed the canal in the early part of the last century although the canal was started by the French. The canal starts at the Gatun locks at the Atlantic side of Panama and travels to the Pacific side which lowers ships over 50 feet in the series of Miraflores Locks. The Panama Canal is one of the wonders of the engineering world.

Cruises do not just take place on the sea though and you could try cruising the rivers of the world. How about the great Mississippi river from New Orleans to Little Rock, St Louis or Pittsburg. Companies also run theme cruises covering themes such as the Civil War, Steamboat racing and special Fall cruises.

You could also try Europe and cruise on the river Rhine, Elbe, Danube, Seine or Rhone rivers to name just a few, or you could try your hand at captaining your own boat on the canal systems in France or the UK. Don’t forget further to the east of Europe there are many other countries offering river cruises. There are also rivers such as the Nile and Amazon as well. Whatever you choose to do, just enjoy yourselves.

Why Taking A Cruise Vacation Could Save Your Life

Taking cruises for your vacation offers so many advantages over simply staying in one place. With a cruise you encounter an almost all inclusive vacation that offers you a comfortable cabin, delicious food all day long, entertainment, and daily activities. Your staff has your comfort in mind when they change damp towels during the day every time you leave your cabin and they turn down your bed at night.

For one fee, you will have all the above mentioned features and services in your hotel at sea. Staterooms are another option to consider, aside from the standard inside cabins. Staterooms with balconies and some staterooms with an outside view will cost a bit more than the standard. These upgrades are wonderful, but they do not affect much more than where you sleep. If you are using your cabin to hang your clothes and take a shower, sleep for a bit and then continue on with all the other activities, you may opt to occupy the standard room.

The ship bustles with daily activities. Tango or salsa classes, trivia games, bands, and parties at the pool and art classes name just a few of the activities offered every day. You can relax at the indoor pool which is usually near the spa or you can go crazy and belly flop at the pool. Take a snooze before dinner so you can enjoy the nightly show!

There are tours on each island that can be purchased for a separate fee. There are cooking classes, horseback riding, golf, scuba diving and then the old-time “kind of free”… Shopping. Each and every island has something new and different to offer. Before disembarking, make sure you know what time to be back to the ship. Maybe you would like some extra time on Cozumel, but you will have to pay for your own transportation to catch up with the ship!

You don’t have to leave your ship while it is in port. Stay and enjoy the splendid ship for the day while the others onboard disembark to look around. You may be in the port of an often visited island and the day around the pool sounds fabulous. Indulge this day in a spa treatment or makeover.

Early breakfast or room service is ideal if you have an early morning tour on one of the islands. Otherwise, a full breakfast is served around 7 am to 9 am. Open seating is alway available for either breakfast or lunch. The buffet hums with activity and the chefs are busy at breakfast making omelets and waffles for you to enjoy.

What a lovely affair dinner is. Served in the dining room by wonderful waiters who can’t do enough for you. First class entrees are served graciously by well trained waiters. The whole meal is a marvelous, relaxing and indulgent two hours. Your waiter will call you by name and remember your preferences. The buffet is always well stoked with excellent food just waiting for you to dine.

Your cruise is a wonderful way to celebrate a holiday away from the everyday world. After this cruise you will have (unfortunately) become accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle that could leave you feeling disatisfied at home!

Cruise Holidays : Are Mediterranean Cruises Right For You?

In this installment of our cruise holidays guide we look at the Mediterranean…

A Mediterranean cruise is without doubt the most varied type of cruise available. There are 17 countries, and over 120 seaports, around the coastline of the Mediterranean, so there are many cruise vacation combinations available on trips that last a week, two weeks, or longer.

Over 50 companies have cruises available along various Mediterranean routes. Some specialize in Western Mediterranean cruises, focusing on ports around Spain, Portugal, Italy, Morocco and France. There are even companies that cater to those who want to visit the Eastern Mediterranean, which include countries like Croatia, Greece, Turkey, or even the Middle East.

Popular specialist Mediterranean cruises include a tour of the North African nations, a Mediterranean islands cruise that visits the island nations of Cyprus and Malta, as well as cruises around the Greek Islands. It’s also possible to arrange a cruise that will let you take in most if not all of the Mediterranean countries, if you’d like a longer vacation.

History, culture, grand cities, ancient monuments, romantic islands and breathtaking views are all within easy reach on a Mediterranean cruise. You can explore the snowy Andalusian villages of Southern Spain, taste the famed Manzanilla Sherry in Cadiz, and discover one of Europe’s cultural hubs in Barcelona before making your way to the French Riviera.

Cruising along the coats of the Italian peninsula is a popular way to view such cultural and historical sights as Mt. Vesuvius, Pompeii, and the fantastic city of Rome. The islands of Sicily and Sardinia are also not to be missed on a Western Mediterranean cruise. Passengers enjoying an Eastern Mediterranean cruise will view the gorgeous Croatian coastline and the beautiful city of Dubrovnik before heading down to the southeast to experience Greece and its lovely islands. The island of Crete is always worth a visit, if only for the historic Palace of Knossos.

Visiting the holy Jerusalem city is a great trek to take from either Israeli port, Ashdod or Haifa, while on a Mediterranean cruise through the Middle East. Egypt’s Port Said is well worth a visit too. Port Said has access to the world-renowned Suez Canal, where vessels travel into the Red Sea and on towards the Arabian Sea.

Cruises Vacations: Canary Islands Cruise

The Canary Islands are a haven for tourists year-round and while many choose to visit one of its seven islands, going on a Canary Islands cruise can be the best way to see the highlights of this sun-drenched region.

The Canary Islands are situation in the Atlantic Ocean, right off the coast of western Africa and are lauded for their sun drenched beaches and beautiful temperatures.

Thanks to their Spanish culture, the Canaries are not just for those looking to get a decent tan. Islands such as Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura have much to offer holidaymakers wanting to sample the region’s history and food, as well as its breathtaking natural beauty, which includes sights such as volcanoes and caves.

The capital of the Canary Islands is located on the Gran Canaria. This island is perfect for all cruise destinations because it has so many different activities to offer, such as some of the best beaches around, festivals, sports, historical areas, and even a great night scene.

A Canary Islands cruise will also probably stop on Tenerife at Santa Cruz, the perfect place for people wanting to experience the area sporting facilities, clubs, and centers for health and beauty.

Other popular destinations in the Canaries include Lanzarote, which attracts young vacationers because of the top bars and clubs, and Fuereventura, generally considered to be the best stopping spot for people wanting a low-key excursion.

Of course, when you take a Canaries cruise you’ll probably see all the main stops on the various islands, so you can experience the Canary Islands’ best attractions in only a few weeks or days.

Depending on the cruise line you choose to go with, you should be able to choose from itineraries that cruise the Canaries as part of bigger packages incorporating destinations such as Morocco and Spain.

What Kind Of Entertainment Do Princess Cruise Lines Offer?

When it comes to entertainment, Princess cruise lines definitely deliver. There is so much to do for people of all ages that there’s little chance you’ll get to do it all in one Princess sea cruise. No matter what you’re into, you’ll find something you like to do. The people who run Princess cruise lines know that you’re going to be on the ship for several days and so they’ve created a schedule designed to keep you as busy as possible so that you never get bored. The best part is that you don’t have to do any of it if you don’t want to. You can just lay back and lay in the sun on the deck by the pool the entire cruise if you want to. Or you can visit the buffets or go swimming or anything else instead of going to any of the classes, entering any of the contests, joining any of the clubs or any of the other things the cruise line offers. It’s all up to you. The point is there’s always something to do and that’s what makes Princess cruise lines more than worth the money you pay for a cruise ticket.

Daily Schedule

You’ll notice when you first board your Princess cruise line ship that you’ll have a daily itinerary waiting for you. It may be waiting on your bed or it may be on the desk. It lists all the things scheduled for that day. For the first day, there’s usually a safety drill, a party to celebrate disembarking, and games and other festivities. Then, each morning there will be a different itinerary with an entirely new schedule of events.

For The Adults

There are many things for the adults to do. There is often a golf workshop, a workshop on gems and art, classes on how to do various things, there are events at the spa, there are swimming classes and contests, there are shows galore, and there are even singles events for those who are looking for someone to meet while on the Princess cruise line.

For The Kids

The kids aren’t left out either as far as the itineraries go. There are day cares for young kids and teen clubs to keep them occupied while the parents go off to do adult stuff. The kids will have a blast and will completely occupied the entire trip that the parents will never have to deal with bored children on the Princess cruise lines.

No matter your age or what you like to do, Princess cruise lines thinks of you when scheduling events and their job is to make sure you have the best cruise possible.
